Baby Cakes

{A dozen baby faces}

{Quints}

{Sleeping Baby}

{Happy Baby}

I made these Baby Face Cupcakes for a coworkers surprise baby shower. She doesn't know what she is having so I made a variety of Boys and Girls. I decorated the Yellow, Blue, and Pink Confetti Cupcakes I posted yesterday with buttercream frosting before piping on all the smiles, freckles and tears.

Confetti Cupcakes

I've always loved Funfetti Cake, but have never made it myself. I was inspired by the theme of my most recent cupcake project (coming soon) and decided to create my own Confetti Cupcakes. I used a variation of this recipe and overall I was very pleased with the results. After making the cupcakes I went to work coloring buttercream frosting to decorate them. I'll post the finished product tomorrow so stay tuned!

Caffine Free

I gave up Coffee (and caffine) this week and I am already regretting my decision. Long hours at work coupled with cupcake baking last night (pictures coming soon) made getting up at 5:30am very difficult. I am craving a hot cup of coffee right now!

Gummy Candy

I'm currently snacking on another great Chinatown find; Hi-Chew and Lot 100 gummy candies. They remind me to Mamba's but even more yummy and about half the price.

Say I Love You Pillow Cases

I found these adorable "Say I Love You" Pillow Cases via Bold Loft while shopping in Chinatown this weekend. They have every possible combination including fighting couples, swearing couples, and even cheating couples. Although I'm partial to the happy in love couples pictured above!

Rainbow Cake

I am totally inspired by this colorful rainbow cake and will be trying to recreate it in the near future. I don't think I'll ever be able to bake a boring 2-3 layer monochromatic cake every again.

Spanx for Men...no thanks

I was quite disturbed when I saw this compression crew neck shirt for men, created by Spanx. I just don't see the point and I can't imagine a man actually wearing a shirt like this, maybe I'm wrong but it reminds me of the Seinfeld episode in which Kramer creates the "Bro" or Manssiere."

Creative Packaging

I loved the colorful packaging for these cookie/cracker snacks and with names like Hello Panda, Jam Jam, and Lucky who could resist. I was even more impressed to find Pandas printed on each Hello Panda cookie.

Fiesta Fiesta

My mom and I spent all weekend party planning for a party that may never take place. She has been trying to convince my step dad that they should throw a backyard party and he isn't exactly jumping at the idea. Needless to say my mom and I had a blast buying mismatched plates at the thrift store (shown here), brainstorming themes, and sourcing picnic tables for their backyard. I may have convinced her to hire the local taco truck for catering and I think these invitations would be perfect if that's what they decide.

Church Mouse Thrift Shop

I had so much fun at the Church Mouse Thrift Shop in Sonoma this weekend. I couldn't pass up the yellow floral china at 0.10-0.25 cents per plate...I'm slowly turning my kitchen more and more yellow (shown here). I also bought 11 mismatched candle stick holders which I plan to spray paint for our mantel.

BBQ Pizza

While relaxing by the pool this weekend I was inspired to cook on the BBQ, but I didn't feel like typical BBQ so we ended up creating these beautiful Pizza's instead. We made 4 in total all with different ingredients and each one delectable in it's own way. My personal favorite was the green chile pepper pizza which had quite a kick to it, unfortunately it was so good I failed to take a picture.

And yes, that is salami but for those of you who know I'm a "chickenarian" don't worry...I didn't eat it!

Wine Country Living

Sorry for the lack of posts this week; I've been swamped with meetings at work, which is why I am so excited that it is finally Friday. I'm headed to Kenwood to enjoy the beautiful weather, lounge by the pool, and sip white wine!

Grilled Banana Sandwich

This weekend I was inspired by the overly ripe bananas pictured above and I decided to make mashed banana sandwiches sweetened with sugar, cinnamon, and a few chocolate chips. They turned out amazing and were a great solution for my banana situation.

Colorful Cupcakes

After spending all weekend baking these cupcakes I decided I should probably invest in some pre-made decorations in order to cut the decorating time in half. There are so many awesome cupcake liners and decorations, but I found these neon ones to be especially fun!

Neon Cupcake Liners $3.25 Cupcake Social
Pinwheels $8 Cupcake Social
Neon Confetti Quins $3.50 Cupcake Social

Black and White Cupcakes

I spent most of my Sunday baking and decorating these black and white cupcakes for my coworkers wedding shower. I decided to go with a black and white theme; devil's food chocolate chip cupcakes topped with chocolate ganache and buttercream frosting. The bow ties, buttons, and hearts were made with melted chocolate. I'm pleased with the final product but a little nervous about transporting them via 2 modes of public transportation to get the to work tomorrow morning.

Wildflowers of Lake Tahoe

The Wildflowers were in full bloom in Lake Tahoe last week and I couldn't get enough. Aren't they beautiful?!?

The North Shore

{Our condo as seen from the dock}

{The beautiful view of Lake Tahoe from our deck}

{Dollar Point}

{Sierra hanging out on the dock}

While in Tahoe we stayed on the North Shore, at Ian's parent's waterfront condo. The location was perfect and the scenery even better. More Tahoe images coming over the next few days, can you tell I miss vacation already!
