Love is Sweet

When deciding on Save the Date's we knew that we didn't want anything too traditional. In order to play up our theme of Love is Sweet we decided to send Kisses along with the Save the Date. I designed and printed the Save the Date and address labels myself and my mom helped to stuff all 100 packages with kisses. I was surprised at how easy these were to pull off and I absolutely love how they turned out!

Milkglass Extravaganza

Long before I decided on the style of our wedding flowers (seen here), I decided that whatever we chose would look beautiful in milkglass. Inspired by this wedding I took it upon myself to start collecting early on. With the help of my family, my bridesmaids, my friend Ashley, and numerous thrift store visits, we have already collected 80 pieces!!! I know the collection doesn't look like much all clumped together without flowers but they really are quite beautiful and they will be even more beautiful when they are filled with bright yellow flowers on our wedding day!

Happy Birthday

We celebrated my future mother in-laws birthday this weekend and it order to make it extra special I made her a chocolate chocolate chocolate cake. The devil's food chocolate cake paired perfectly with the chocolate mouse filling and the chocolate fudge frosting...yum!

Today is her actual birthday and I hope she still has leftovers to enjoy...Happy Birthday Keven!

Flowers, Flowers, and more Flowers

{Monochromatic and Unstructured}

{Colorful and Whimsical}

{Organic and Bright}

{Simple and Sweet}

{Muted and Understated}

When envisioning our wedding we knew that flowers would play a large part, but that's about it. I had been putting off researching flowers and florists for quite some time because it was so overwhelming, with so many varieties and styles of flowers I couldn't begin to narrow them down. As we approached the 7 month mark I decided it was time to stop avoiding it and finally embrace the ever daunting world of flowers. I quickly realized that I would be happy with almost any flowers as long as they were yellow and just like that another wedding hurdle was crossed!

Princess Cake

We made princess cake at school last week and I have to say I think it was my favorite project so far. The subtle green marzipan shell decorated with soft pink roses make the cake look so delicate while the inside layers of chiffon cake, raspberry jam, and diplomat cream (pastry cream mixed with whipped cream) make the flavor so delectable. I will definitely be making this again soon!

All things Yellow

I have been obsessed with yellow for quite some time (seen here and here and here), but obsession recently turned into overdrive when we chose yellow as our wedding color. I have been consumed with all things yellow ever since...not that I'm complaining, if I have to be consumed with any color I sure am glad it is bright and cheerful yellow!

Macarons

I have been posting about Macarons for quite some time (seen here and here and here) and yet I had never attempted to make them due to Ian's nut allergy and their complexity. Culinary School offered the perfect excuse and once I started making them I couldn't stop. I even made a macaron tree for my presentation. I still haven't tried baking them with sesame seeds so Ian can actually eat them but I promise those will be coming soon!

Colorful Cooking

I received these amazing ceramic measuring spoons for Christmas and cooking has been so much more fun ever since. Cooking with colorful and fun gadgets is so inspiring (seen here and here) and these measuring spoons were the perfect addition to my growing cookware collection...thanks Amy!

California Love

I stumbled upon this California pillow on Etsy and I was amazed at the resemblance to the California cookies I made recently. Both items can be made in a variety of colors and the hearts can be placed wherever you would like. What a fun way to share your love of this beautiful state!
