Bridesmaids Dresses

I wrote about finding Bridesmaids Dresses here and here and while it wasn't an easy process I couldn't be more pleased with how they turned out. All four of my girls were given the option to select ANY grey dress and it turned out they all liked the same one. Rather than force them into different dresses I decided that mismatched accessories would achieve my goal and above is the final result!

Wedding White

I've never considered myself a traditional bride and something about wearing ALL white on my wedding day never quite appealed to me. I always planned on wearing a white dress (and possibly a veil) but that is where I drew the line and therefore started my search for yellow shoes and accessories. As our wedding draws near I have started to embrace wedding white and while most of my wedding will still be non-traditional, I've slowly changed my mind about accessorizing my wedding day ensemble. These are just a few of my favorite white accessories I'm contemplating on incorporating into my wedding...you'll have to wait until August to find out if I wear all white or mix it up with some yellow!

Registering for Yellow

Our wedding registry is filled with fun yellow pieces much like our wedding. Our house doesn't have any yellow in it so I tried to limit my yellow obsession to just the kitchen! I didn't register for the yellow kitchen mixer since I already have an amazing black one but I must say I was tempted.

Shoes

I have been on the hunt for wedding shoes for months but with my first fitting quickly approaching I have started to get worried. I always planned on finding the perfect pair of yellow shoes to brighten up my all white wedding day ensemble, but I made my search much more difficult the day I ordered my dress. My dress was custom fit to me and when I placed the order they asked me how high my shoes would be, I really had no idea at the time so I just guessed around 3" Fast forward 6 months and 3" yellow wedges are hard to come by. My shoes pretty much have to be wedges since we will be walking through grass and in retrospect I probably should've had my dress made to wear flats. I have expanded my search to include white and grey shoes although yellow is still my first choice. I realize that the majority of these shoes probably don't look like wedding shoes to you but like most of my wedding that's what I am going for. I hope to find a pair of shoes that reflects my personality without the inevitable bridal lace and rhinestones. Which color or pair would you choose?

Polka Dot Dreams

I finally found my dream wedding shoe, unfortunately JCrew made them in 2009 and at the time I didn't think to buy them for my future yellow polka dot wedding. I keep pretending that they will relaunch them before August, but since we all know that is not a possibility I suppose I will have to start looking for the next best thing or convince someone to recreate them for me! I also recently found my dream bridesmaids dresses, also by JCrew and also discontinued (more polka dots of course).

Wedding Wear

Ian and I went suit shopping this weekend and picked out the perfect suit for him to wear for our wedding. The shopping trip led to an entire wardrobe review and I think we have finally narrowed down what Ian and his groomsmen will be wearing. I am obviously hoping for the polka dot ties but we ordered a few to see which would look best. Ian also came up with a great idea to wear checked or plaid shirts instead of plain white, we are going to different so I think this will be the perfect compliment to his grey or black vans!

Kate Spade Wedding Belles (and Whistles)

I have admired Kate Spade for a while which is why I am so excited about her new collection called Wedding Belles and Whistles. As a bride to be I am always looking for fun ways to pull my wedding look together and I couldn't be more excited about her Say Yes Necklaces. If I had my choice I would probably get one that simply said "YES" but since that isn't an option just yet I think I may settle for "Mrs." Check out Kate Spade's new wedding shop here and the necklaces here!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

I don't currently have much green in my wardrobe, which of course I realized while trying to get dressed this morning. Above are a few green pieces I wouldn't mind adding before next St. Patty's day in order to avoid being pinched. Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Yellow or Grey?

I've checked most of the big to-do's off my wedding checklist, but one thing I have yet to tackle is what my ladies will be wearing. It has been the topic of discussion lately as we scour the internet to find the perfect dresses. The first item up for debate is color; my entire wedding is yellow but there is something so unflattering about yellow dresses. I found a few cute examples above but I think we are strongly leaning towards grey. The second item up for debate is style. I guess you could call me an untraditional bride because I hate the look of matching bridesmaids dresses. I thought I was doing the wedding party of favor by asking them to pick whatever style or dress they like as long as it fits with the overall color and styles of the other dresses. I've come to find out that this mismatched approach is much more difficult than it seems and this is probably why most brides just pick the dresses for their bridesmaids. I'm still determined to find 4 mismatched dresses that perfectly reflect each of my bridesmaids personalities so that they aren't stuck matching the tablecloths at my wedding...any suggestions on where I should start?!?

Vintage Posters

I absolutely love the look of these vintage posters found over at A Vintage Poster, the only problem is that they have 50 different posters to choose from and each comes with 25 color options; I can't even begin to narrow it down. I may end up designing a completely custom poster, which is also an option. I clearly have no reason for the animal prints, but I am totally in love with the dotted giraffe (no big surprise given my obsession with yellow and dots).

Milkglass Extravaganza

Long before I decided on the style of our wedding flowers (seen here), I decided that whatever we chose would look beautiful in milkglass. Inspired by this wedding I took it upon myself to start collecting early on. With the help of my family, my bridesmaids, my friend Ashley, and numerous thrift store visits, we have already collected 80 pieces!!! I know the collection doesn't look like much all clumped together without flowers but they really are quite beautiful and they will be even more beautiful when they are filled with bright yellow flowers on our wedding day!

All things Yellow

I have been obsessed with yellow for quite some time (seen here and here and here), but obsession recently turned into overdrive when we chose yellow as our wedding color. I have been consumed with all things yellow ever since...not that I'm complaining, if I have to be consumed with any color I sure am glad it is bright and cheerful yellow!

Colorful Cooking

I received these amazing ceramic measuring spoons for Christmas and cooking has been so much more fun ever since. Cooking with colorful and fun gadgets is so inspiring (seen here and here) and these measuring spoons were the perfect addition to my growing cookware collection...thanks Amy!

California Love

I stumbled upon this California pillow on Etsy and I was amazed at the resemblance to the California cookies I made recently. Both items can be made in a variety of colors and the hearts can be placed wherever you would like. What a fun way to share your love of this beautiful state!

Polka Dots

Kate Spade Polka dots (seen here) make me so happy and this cell phone case makes me want to upgrade to the G4 ASAP! Sorry for the lack of posts lately; bootcamp, work, school, and wedding planning has pretty much taken up all of my free time.

Creative Containers

Ian and I started registering recently and I really wish that more retailers carried ceramic containers such as the ones above. I have been eyeing these fruit baskets for a while and as soon as I saw the milk jug I was instantly in love.
