Wedding Flowers

Wedding flowers were one of the few things I had little control over. I knew that I wanted to use all of the milkglass vases we collected (seen here) but other than that I was pretty clueless (seen here). I pretty much left the entire process up to our florist and I'm glad I did because there was plenty of other random projects that took up all of my time!

Wedding Signs

[BEFORE]

[AFTER]

One of my favorite DIY projects for our wedding was the signs. Ian helped cut and assemble them and I painted them. I loved how they turned out, but now I have NO idea what to do with them!

Escort Card Cookies

One of the craziest DIY projects I took on for our wedding was the escort card cookies. Our wedding theme was "Love is Sweet" and I wanted a way to tie my love of dessert into something other than the dessert bar. I had the brilliant idea of baking, decorating, and packaging close to 200 sugar cookies and despite the hard work I was really pleased with how they turned out. Of course I didn't even see them on the wedding day, but I did get a lot of positive feedback from our guests!

Bridesmaids Dresses

I wrote about finding Bridesmaids Dresses here and here and while it wasn't an easy process I couldn't be more pleased with how they turned out. All four of my girls were given the option to select ANY grey dress and it turned out they all liked the same one. Rather than force them into different dresses I decided that mismatched accessories would achieve my goal and above is the final result!

We are in the home stretch and I am actually ahead of schedule on all of my DIY projects. I even added a few things to my list in order to stay busy this coming week. I cannot wait to share all of the projects I worked on leading up to our wedding, but here is another sneak peak...stay tuned to see how I use these yellow pieces on our wedding day!

Everything YELLOW!

I have been a horrible blogger but I promise to be better once all the wedding mayhem is over. A quick update, I used 5+ bottles of yellow spray paint this past weekend and cannot wait to show you all the fun projects I've been working on. We are getting down to the wire but I am trying to enjoy every moment of it and limit my stress as much as possible. More frequent posts coming in less than 20 days!!!

Wedding Mayhem

I have been a horrible blogger the past fews weeks but the truth is it will probably be this way until after our wedding. The next 30 days are jammed packed with bridal showers, vendor meetings, and baking! In order to prove that I haven't forgotten about my blog and that I've really have been very busy, I have posted a few snapshots of what I've been working on the past few weeks.

Letter Cakes

We aren't planning on having a traditional wedding cake, but if we were I love the look of these seemingly plain cakes decorated with a splash of color. Of course if these were our cakes they would surely have yellow writing instead of red and pink!

Polka Dot Wedding Invitations

With 6 weeks until our wedding I am starting to enter panic mode. There is a never ending list of things to do and of course no time to get them done. Ian and I are spent the 4th of July weekend power washing and spray painting in order to try and cross a few things off our list, this weekend Ian is celebrating his bachelor party while I work on to a million DIY projects.

One thing that keeps me smiling through all the stress is our polka dot invitations! I designed them, hand cut envelope liners and even addressed them myself. I couldn't be more pleased with the final result and I especially enjoyed receiving the polka dot response card envelopes in the mail for the past month!

The Happiest Place on Earth

I am headed to Los Angeles for work, hopefully squeezing in some wedding band shopping, and definitely Disneyland! I can't wait to catch up with Minnie and Mickey after all these years. I didn't have time to bake for the occasion but if I had I would've used Mickey as my inspiration.

Summer

As we hit the 2 month mark I already feel the summer slipping away from me! I recently organized my calendar which led me to put together a list of all the things I wanted to do before Labor Day. Between bridal showers, bachelorette parties and our wedding in August I would like to squeeze in a few summer favorites!

1. Spend a day like a tourist in San Francisco - Ian and I have been trying to walk across the bridge or visit Alcatraz ever since I moved home 3 summers ago, hoping this is the summer!
2. Enjoy drinks/dinner outside whenever it’s warm.
3. Go on a hike or two or three...

4. Spend some time relaxing in Kenwood not focused on the wedding (seen here).
5. Organize our Kitchen in hopes of fitting at least a few of our wedding presents!
6. Get a tan - I don't tan easily but I'm hoping between Kenwood, Tahoe and Mexico I can form at least a little tan before August.

7. Find time to bake a fresh fruit pie in our new pie dish.
8. Spend time with family and friends!

9. Spend at least one weekend in Tahoe - it's embarrassing but Ian and I have been to Tahoe together since last September when we got engaged (seen here).
10. Get Married (no biggie)!!!

What’s on your summer to-do list?

Veil or No Veil

I have my first dress fitting this weekend, which has me thinking about how to complete the look. I'm not sure if I'm a veil kinda bride, but I also don't see myself with a headband or a birdcage. Thoughts?

Bridesmaids Lunch

This post is long over due, but as the wedding quickly approaches I thought I would share a few pictures of another DIY project I completed a while back. My mom organized high tea for my bridesmaids and I back in March and I thought it would be fun to give everyone a little more information so I put together a little booklet which included information on attire, accommodations and contacts for everyone in the wedding party. I tied it off with a yellow bow and gave it to them along with a little gift bag. My mom is also very crafty and made matching champagne flutes with everyone's names on them, also tied with a cute yellow bow. The whole day was perfect and mad me even more excited to share my wedding experience with these wonderful girls!
